Professor Greg Steinberg is the Canada Research Chair in Metabolism, Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes, with the research centre at McMaster University.
Greg is also the son of one of our members, a very proud Bob Steinberg!
Diabetes contributes to 40% of heart attacks and 30% of strokes in Canada. Greg is working to prevent sudden heart complications in people with diabetes.
Dr. Steinberg and his team develop new tests to help predict which people are at highest risk. With a new therapy that prevents inflammation and lowers blood glucose, these findings could reduce heart attacks and strokes and save lives.
PERSONAL VIGNETTE: Also in this meeting, Doug Craig will be delivering his personal vignette.
LUNCH BUNCH: After the meeting, all members are invited to have lunch (at their own cost) at Barnacle Bill’s 47 Grand Avenue South. A great way to get to know your fellow members.
